Increasing in Sadaqa This Ramadhān

Ramadhān is a time of immense mercy and reward, and one of the most beautiful ways to draw closer to Allah is through sadaqa (charity). Many assume sadaqa is only about giving money, but in reality, every act of kindness, every moment spent in service to others, and every effort to bring ease to someone’s life is a form of sadaqa.

The Prophet ﷺ said:

“Every act of goodness is charity.” (Sahih Muslim)

This means that sadaqa is not limited to financial giving but extends to every beneficial act we do for the sake of Allah.

Ways to Increase in Sadaqa Beyond Money:

Du’ā – Sincerely praying for someone, whether they know it or not, is a form of charity.

Sharing Knowledge – Teaching someone something beneficial, whether it’s about the deen or worldly matters, is an act of sadaqa.

Giving Advice – Guiding someone toward what is good and keeping them away from harm is an act of charity.

Smiling – The Prophet ﷺ said, “Your smile to your brother is a charity.” (Tirmidhi)

Helping Others – Lending a hand in any way, whether physically assisting someone or simply offering emotional support, is sadaqa.

Giving Your Time – Time is a valuable gift. Spending time with family, the elderly, or someone in need is an act of sadaqa.

Tarbiyyah (Raising and Guiding Children with Love) – Raising children with good character and instilling deen in them is a lifelong sadaqa jariyah.

Showing Patience in Difficult Times – Enduring hardships with patience is a charity that benefits both ourselves and those who witness it.

Encouraging Good and Stopping Evil – Advising with sincerity and wisdom is a great act of charity.

Speaking Kindly and Gently – The Prophet ﷺ said, “A good word is charity.” (Bukhari & Muslim)

Forgiving Others – Letting go of grudges and forgiving for the sake of Allah is a form of sadaqa.

Giving Respect – Treating people with honor and dignity is an act of charity.

Being Part of Someone’s Happiness – Sharing in another’s joy and celebrating their blessings is sadaqa.

Visiting the Sick – The Prophet ﷺ said, “When a Muslim visits his sick brother, he is harvesting the fruits of Paradise until he returns.” (Muslim)

Removing Harm from the Path – Even something as simple as picking up a harmful object from the road is charity.

Guiding Someone to the Right Path – Whether it’s helping someone find their way or guiding them spiritually, it is sadaqa.

The Multiplied Reward of Sadaqa in Ramadhān

The Prophet ﷺ said, “The best charity is that given in Ramadhān.” (Tirmidhi)

Every good deed in this blessed month is multiplied, and sadaqa is one of the fastest ways to earn Allah’s pleasure and mercy. When we give, whether through wealth, time, kindness, or effort, we are not only helping others but also purifying our own hearts and increasing in barakah.

Give With an Open Heart

This Ramadhān, let’s embrace sadaqa in all its forms. Whether big or small, every act done sincerely for Allah is counted. And the best part? The more you give, the more Allah gives you in return.

As the Prophet ﷺ said:

“Charity does not decrease wealth.” (Muslim)

Let’s give without fear, love without limits, and serve without hesitation. May Allah accept our sadaqa and make it a means of drawing closer to Him, ameen.
